MAWP Awards and Recognition

Nominations were open for the 2010 Minnesota Association of Women Police  awards such as Officer of the Year.  The deadline for nominations was March 6, 2010.  Nominations need to be post marked no later than March 6, 2010.  In an effort to solicit future nominations for all of our awards and to further explain each category, below are downloadable details and forms for the awards.  Note: the nomination form must be downloaded separately below even though the cover letter indicates that the form is attached to the cover letter. 

ATTENTION!  Currently the 2009 aeard documents can be applied for 2010 award nominations.  Although the 2009 award documents say to contact Molly Lynch with any questions, please email Stefanie Hennen at shennen@ci.hopkins.mn.us or Maureen Sikorra at maureen.sikorra@ci.roseville.mn.us and NOT Molly Lynch!  Thanks!   

The Minnesota Association of Women Police held its annual award luncheon on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Grand View in Niswa, Minnesota.  The following women police officers were recognized for their exceptional performance in 2009.

2009 Officer of the Year Award:  Detective Jennifer Engh, Roseville Police Department

2009 Medal of Valor Award:  Officer Melissa Johnson, Officer Mike Buske, Officer John Christianson, Officer Erik Fadden,
Sergeant Joe Gebhardt, All Plymouth Police Department
Officer Jessica Ellis, Officer Adam Gray, Officer David Blackstock, All Mankato Police Department

2009 Excellence in Performance Award:  Detective Leslie Patterson, Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Marilyn Hedstrom, Ramsey County Sheriffs Office

2009 Leadership Award:  Sergeant Sheila Lambie, St. Paul Police Department

2009 Melissa Schmidt Community Service Award:  Officer Tracy Henry, St. Paul Police Department

2009 Excellence in Service Award:  Investigations Technician Julie Griffin, Roseville Police Department

2009 Recognition of Heritage (30 Years) Award:  Marie Ballard (Retired), Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office

2009 MAWP Scholarships:  Melissa Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Recipient:  Angel Linderman
Karen Rice Memorial Scholarship Recipient:  Lee Mars
